The honest
answers.
The questions restaurant operators ask us — about setup, the kitchen display, GST invoicing, reservations, and how it all fits together.
Getting started
Most restaurants are live the same day. Build your menu, invite staff by role, place the QR codes. The two most complex onboardings took a Tuesday afternoon and a Sunday morning.
No dedicated hardware required. A phone or tablet for the kitchen display, the same for your waiter and host. Guests use the phone they already carry. A printer for QR cards is the only optional extra.
Yes — you can import from a spreadsheet, or upload a photo of your printed menu and let AI extract it into a structured menu automatically. We've pulled menus from design docs, printed cards, and one handwritten chalk board.
Day-to-day service
Dinemint handles ordering, kitchen routing, and invoicing — the core of what most restaurants use a POS for. It doesn't process card payments at the table yet; your guests pay the way you already accept. If your POS's main job is taking orders and printing kitchen tickets, Dinemint replaces it cleanly.
Yes — the Kitchen Display System (KDS) is a full-screen view designed for a tablet or monitor at the pass. New orders arrive with a sound alert, change colour as they move through preparation, and can be marked ready by any kitchen staff member.
Waiters log in with their own credentials and see a live order list scoped to their assigned tables. They can mark dishes served, add items to an open order, and flag issues — all from a phone or tablet on the floor.
Yes. The simplest flow is scan → browse → order — no app, no login. Guests optionally give a name and phone number at checkout. Everything else is anonymous unless they choose otherwise.
Invoicing and tax
Yes. Dinemint generates a proper Tax Invoice for every closed order — sequential invoice number, restaurant GSTIN, legal name and address, SAC code, taxable value, CGST amount, SGST amount, and total. It meets the format requirements for Indian GST.
Yes. You configure your GSTIN, tax rate, and whether your restaurant is on the regular or composition scheme. Dinemint applies CGST + SGST (or composition levy) to each line item and computes the breakdown automatically at order close.
Yes — from the Invoices tab in the owner dashboard, you can export all invoices for any date range to Excel. The sheet includes invoice number, date, table, customer, taxable value, CGST, SGST, and total. Your accountant can import it directly.
No. You set a default tax rule at the restaurant level — most restaurants use 5% GST (CGST 2.5% + SGST 2.5%). Individual items can override this if they fall under a different rate. Anything without an item-level rule inherits the restaurant default.
996331 — the SAC code for restaurant and food service activities. You can override this per item if you serve packaged goods or alcohol that fall under a different code.
Bookings and host
Guests can request a reservation through the menu page — they pick a date, time, and party size. The host reviews it and confirms, counter-proposes, or declines from the host panel. The guest gets a confirmation.
Yes. You configure operating hours per day, and the reservation system only shows available slots within those hours. Cover limits per slot prevent overbooking.
Money
One. A single flat monthly plan with every feature in it — including every feature we ship in future. There's no tier to choose, nothing held back for a higher bracket, and no upsell later.
Your own. Pricing is handled by Paddle, our payment provider and merchant of record, which shows the price in your local currency for your country. The number on the pricing page is the live, localized price for wherever you're visiting from.
None. We don't take a cut of any order placed through Dinemint. The monthly fee is the monthly fee, and any sales tax or VAT is shown and handled for you at checkout.
On day fifteen we ask if you'd like to continue. If yes, we charge the card. If no, you keep the menu you built, your data, and the goodwill.
Yes — the standard plan covers a single restaurant in full. For groups, chains, white-label menu domains, or anything bespoke, we set the arrangement up individually. Get in touch and we'll build it around what you need.
Trust
You do. Export your menu, your orders, your invoices — any time. We'd like to keep your business; we won't hold your data hostage to do it.
On secure cloud servers, with photos hosted on a global content network. Daily backups, encrypted at rest, never sold.
No. We have never sold a row of data and we never will. It's in the contract.
